Simona Canipari show: between Marina di Massa and Maniago she wins 4 races in 8 days. She has already won back-to-back world and European titles, plus several races at the national level, but Simona Canipari is never satisfied. The athlete from Brescia, bearer of the Active Team La Leonessa sponsored by MAK, has given yet another confirmation of this in the last two weekends, even adding four more victories to a palmarès that becomes richer every month. The athlete from Villanuova sul Clisi won both trials (in-line and time trial) in the WH1 category at both the Two Days of the Sea in Marina di Massa and in the Maniago (Pordenone) trial of the Para-cycling World Cup, where she was riding with the national team for the occasion, in an event that gave various satisfactions to Active members. In addition to her, Omar Rizzato (then third in the time trial the next day, again in MH2) also took first place in the road race in Tuscany, and Mirko Testa, Christian Giagnoni and Mirko Pini also made the podium. The former finished second in the MH3 category’s inline race (in the “time trial,” however, he finished seventh), while the latter was among the big stars in MH4, with a second place on Saturday and a third place on Sunday. Double podium finishes also for Mirko Pini, who took two third places in the MC3. Excellent performances also by the other Active Team La Leonessa athletes: Mirko De Cortes, Fabrizio Falappi, Mattia Guerini and rookie Nico Sartini, twice in the top-10 in the MC4.
Last weekend in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, in addition to Simona Canipari’s double gold medal, the most prestigious result was seized by Mirko Testa, also competing with the Italian national team: after a bitter 25th place in Thursday’s MH3 time trial, the Bergamasque finished at the foot of the podium in Saturday’s road race, with some regret because he was fourth among the four who played for success in the sprint. Two top-10 finishes for Omar Rizzato, sixth on Thursday and seventh on Saturday among the MH2s. Also in the handbike, an 11th and 18th place for Christian Giagnoni (MH4), a 16th and 19th place for Mirko De Cortes (MH5). Finally, in the MC3 between Friday and Sunday, Mirko Pini, who was running in an Italy uniform and gave everything despite some shoulder problems that limited him quite a bit, finished 18th twice between Friday and Sunday. “These were two weekends of great emotions and satisfaction,” the words of Sergio Balduchelli, captain of Active Team La Leonessa, “in which all the boys were fantastic. We are increasingly proud of them, the effort they put in and the results they manage to achieve. We couldn’t be happier with how the season is going.” Next weekend 13 Active athletes will be engaged in Verolanuova for the ninth edition of the “Verola Paracycling Cup,” while on Sunday, May 14, the second stage of the Giro d’Italia handbike race is scheduled in Tirano (Sondrio). An important commitment for the Brescia-based company, which will have to defend the “Fast Team” red jersey won in the inaugural event in Merano.
